Ingredients

  • 4 onions of equal size
  • 0.5 kg ground beef
  • 300 g cold-smoked bacon
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese balls
  • 1 tsp whole grain mustard
  • 1 tsp tomato paste
  • POPPAMIES “Roasted Garlic” BBQ sauce
  • A bunch of parsley
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tbsp “BURGERS & RIBS RUB” spice mix

Recipe

  1. BBQ onion bombs: Prepare the Kamado BONO grill for indirect cooking. Light the charcoal with a starter, place the stainless steel grates, and wait until the temperature reaches 200°C. Partially close the top and bottom air vents to maintain a steady temperature.
  2. Peel the onions, cut them in half, and separate the layers. Mix the meat with mustard, chopped onion, egg, tomato paste, spices, and chopped parsley. Form meatballs, press a piece of mozzarella into the center, place them between two onion halves, and wrap with bacon strips. Grill for 40 minutes; during the last 10 minutes, brush with BBQ sauce.
  3. Enjoy.
